Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders
Dual diagnosis treatment at HH Helpline addresses both addiction and mental health conditions simultaneously, because treating one without the other often leads to relapse.
What is Dual Diagnosis?
Dual diagnosis refers to the co-occurrence of a substance use disorder and a mental health condition. Research shows that nearly half of individuals with a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring mental health condition. At HH Helpline, our San Francisco treatment center specializes in treating both conditions together through an integrated approach.
Our dual diagnosis program combines psychiatric evaluation and medication management with evidence-based therapies to address the complex relationship between addiction and mental health. Our clinical team includes psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and certified addiction counselors who collaborate on each patient's treatment plan.
Mental Health Conditions Treated
Depression
Major depressive disorder often accompanies substance use. Our integrated approach addresses both conditions for more effective treatment.
Anxiety Disorders
Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorders frequently co-occur with addiction. CBT and DBT are highly effective for both.
PTSD
Trauma-informed care is central to our approach, helping patients process traumatic experiences that may drive substance use.
Bipolar Disorder
Mood stabilization and addiction treatment work together under the supervision of our psychiatric team at our facility.
Our Integrated Approach
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation upon admission
- Medication management by board-certified psychiatrists
- CBT and DBT specifically adapted for dual diagnosis patients
- Trauma-informed individual and group therapy
- Coordinated treatment planning between medical and clinical teams
- Ongoing aftercare planning addressing both conditions
